Player of the Week
Saguaro QB Teddy Ruben was stellar versus Sunnyslope. He went 12 of 15 for 288 yards and 3 TDs passing and carried the ball 12 times for 204 yards and 3 more TDs.
QBs
*Kellis QB Adam O’Banion passed for 220 yards and 3 TDs.
*Liberty’s Andre Hattie had 331 yards of offense and scored 4 TDs.
*Washington’s Devonte Smythe was 19 of 27 for 345 yards and threw 3 TDs against Coronado.
*Notre Dame’s Jordan Gehrke was near perfect versus Desert Edge. He was 11 of 13 for 178 yards and 3 TDs.
*But how is this for perfection, Brett Hundley went 3 for 3 and all 3 passes went for TDs against Casa Grande.
*Desert Ridge’s Parker Rasmussen passed for 227 yards and threw 6 TDs against Corona del Sol.
*Desert Vista’s Hunter Rodriguez makes the Phenoms list for the first time, passing for 263 yards and 3 TDs last Friday.
*Bourgade’s Blake Comella passed for 243 yards and 3 TDs and rushed for 64 yards and another score against North Pointe.
Aidan Wright Scottsdale Prep quarterback was 18 for 29 for 386 yards and 6 TDs, no interceptions and had 13 carries for 90 yards.
RBs
*Westview RB Jordan Champion carried the ball 10 times for 120 yards and scored 5 TDs against Highland.
*Horizon’s Matt Jones averaged 20 yards a carry versus Goldwater. He rushed 9 times for 181 yards and 2 TDs.
*Mike Contreras from Boulder Creekhad 300 all purpose yards vs. Kingman. He had 13 carries for 113 yards, 3 receptions for 63 yards and 2 kick off returns for 124 yards. 4 TDs (3 rushing and 1 receiving).
*Perry RB Cedric Simmons carried the ball 32 times for 259 yards and 3 TDs in a win over Buena.
*Trae Armstrong from Deer Valley had 207 yards and 3 TDs against South Mountain.
*Gila Bend’s Sergio Areton rushed for 230 yards and 3 TDs against San Pasqual.
*Michael Grubbs helped Copper Canyon head coach Mike Segovia get his first win by rushing for 233 yards and 3 TDs against Tempe and he also returned a kickoff 81 yards for a 4th score.
*Cholla’s James Wimberly had 395 all-purpose yards against Marana.
Receivers
*Cactus Shadows WR John Leonard is having a big year. In Thursday’s game vs. Greenway he caught 11 passes for 171 yards and 1 TD.
*Scottsdale Prep freshman Matt Munsil had 14 catches for 341 yards and 6 TDs against Glendale Prep.
Defense/Special Teams
*Apollo’s Aaron Burnett blocked 2 punts and recovered one for a TD. He also had two sacks against Sunrise Mountain.
