The Knights and SOPH RB Seivion Morris run away with a win on Fox Sports Arizona's game of the week
Recap
Two traditionally strong westside teams squared off on Fox Sports Arizona's Thursday game of the week but it was Westview that walked away with a convincing 37-7 win over Millennium.
The Knights opened the game with a 7 minute drive and came away with a 3-0 lead behind Jacob Szostek's 29 yard field goal.
The WV defense forced a punt and again went to work with their strong run game. RBs
Seivion Morris
,
Jordan Champion
and Shayne Miller pounded their way down the field and this time put the rock in the endzone on a James Oates run. 10-0 WV.
It looked like the Tigers would match but WV corner Tony Amaechi picked off Taylor Nezboda and it took just a few plays for Westview to build a 17-0 lead. Morris rumbled for a 21 yard gain and Miller raced 53 yards to the 6 yard line. Morris punched it in on the next play.
Westview scored again on another Millennium turnover at the end of the 2nd quarter. Junior DE Chuks Amaechi gave a crushing blindside hit that forced a fumble that WV recovered. Morris got his first of three TDs on the night a few plays later. 23-0.
Millennium got on the board late in the 2nd on a 41 yard Nezboda to Kieran Duncan pass.
Score at half- 23-7.
The 2nd half was much like the first. Westview kept the ball on the ground and Morris scored two more times before Millennium added a TD and two-point conversion at the end of the 4th to give us the 37-15 final.
Bottomline
It's hard to win games when you can't put up points and Westview's defense kept Millennium out of the endzone except for a 41 yard bomb by the Tigers at the end of the 1st half.
When playing a ball control offense like Westview has, turnovers are key and Millennium had too many to win this game.
Game Ball
Westview sophomore RB Seivion Morris was impressive. His 2 TDs in the 2nd half sealed the deal for Westview.
