Two undefeated, top 10 teams, in a rematch of last year's state title game, in front of nearly 10,000 people. What a great night for football!!!
Hamilton set the tone early and scored on their first possession. Senior QB Blake Kemp hit WR Just'n Thymes for a 36 yard gain on the first play from scrimmage to move the Huskies to the plus side of the 50. A pass interference call kept the drive alive and a few plays later Kemp would score from 12 yards out, his first of three TDs on the night. 7-0 Hamilton.
Desert Ridge got on the board late in the first quarter when DE Damani Mosby stripped Kemp on a sack Trevor Ramero raced in for the score. PAT was no good. 7-6 Hamilton.
As it would turn out, this would be the Jaguars only score on the evening. Kemp scored again in the second quarter after Hamilton put in DTs Jaxon Hood and Calvin Thomas at TEs and decided to grind out their second score.
No one scored in the 3rd quarter and Hamilton added to fourth quarter scores. The first was another run from Kemp and the final was a 20 yard scamper from RB Marcus Jones.
Final 28-6 Hamilton.
Desert Ridge was scrappy and played tough but they could never get much going offensively. Their lone score came on defense. Hamilton has shown they are the team to beat, their Oct. 20th showdown with Basha is looking more and more intriguing. DR will be a playoff team and a contender in D1.
Loved what I saw from Hamilton QB Blake Kemp tonight. He was accurate and ran the ball well, had 3 TDs. Also, got to give it up to the Hamilton defense, they shut Desert Ridge out.
