Game Recap: Marcos v. McClintock

Padres roll to 63-6 win on Cox 7 Thursday game of the week

Recap

McClintock's Joseph Wells returned the opening kickoff 100 yards but this would be the only score the Chargers would get in a 63-6 Marcos de Niza win on the Cox 7 Thursday game of the week.

Marcos followed the kickoff with a quick scoring drive capped off on a 2 yard Josh Kirkwood scoring run. The Padres would score 8 more times before the night was over.

Tommy Thornton hit Paul Elvira for a 6 yard scoring pass, Thornton's first of 3 TDs on the night. Mauriece Lee ran in 2 scores before halftime to put Marcos up 28-6 at the half.

Thornton came out in the 2nd half and threw TD passes to Josh Eckerly and Elvira to open up the second half and was done playing once the 4th quarter started.

Andrew Molina returned a punt for a score, Elvira ran in another score and in relief of Thornton, Eckerly threw a TD pass to Kirkwood to end the game.

63-6 Marcos.

Bottomline

New McClintock head coach Matt Lewis has the Chargers headed in the right direction but they were outmanned tonight. Other then the opening kickoff and the 8 minute drive that McClintock went on in the 1st quarter, Marcos looked good. Tommy Thornton looked good at QB and Paul Elvira had a nice night. The Padres showed some speed at RB.

Game Ball

Easy pick. Tommy Thornton passed for 350 yards, completed nearly 70% of his passes and threw TD passes.
