Desert Ridge's Joey Counts rushes for 400+ versus North Canyon for POW honors
Game Recap: Desert Ridge v. Boulder Creek
Desert Ridge scored quick and early and never looked back in their 38-14 win over Boulder Creek on the Cox 7 Thursday game of the week.
It took 30 seconds for Desert Ridge to score. QB Parker Rasmussen hit Damani Mosby for an 86 yard TD pass. 7-0 DR.
The Jaguar D forced a punt and the offense went right back to work. Joey Counts had several tough runs and Rasmussen scampered in from a few yards out to build the lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.
Rasmussen and Counts would each score in the second half to take a 28-0 lead into halftime.
Boulder Creek had two chances to score in the half and stay in the game but came up short on a 4th and 1 play in the redzone and missed a short field goal.
The third quarter didn't have quite as much scoring, with DR adding three more points to their lead on a Dallas Witlow field goal.
It wasn't until the 11:06 mark in the 4th that BC finally got on the board. Trevor Bonafasi found RB Stephen Landeros to cut the lead to 31-7.
The teams traded scores at the end of the 4th, DR on a Rasmussen to Rudy Jiminez TD pass and BC on a Zach Labno fumble recovery in the endzone. Final 38-14 Desert Ridge.
No real easy way to put it but Desert Ridge is the better team. They won all three phases of the game.
Will go with the Desert Ridge defense as well as RB Joey Counts. Counts rushed for nearly 250 yards and 1 TD.
