Wolves beat North Canyon on Cox 7 game of the week
Recap
After a scoreless first quarter, it was North Canyon that struck first and took the early lead.
Bryant O'Georgia
kept an attempted double pass and ran down to the 9 yard line. Onuche Okwoli scored soon after. 7-0 North Canyon.
It didn't take long for Desert Mountain to respond as
Kyle Allen
hooked up with
Mark Andrews
for a TD pass. The PAT was no good. 7-6.
After forcing a North Canyon punt, the Wolves went right back to the air as Allen found Seth Friedman and he ran to the 2 yard line. Adam Cooper plunged in from two yards out and then Allen hooked up with Freidman again on the two-point conversion. 14-7 DM.
North Canyon rallied and went on a drive that ate up all but 40 seconds on the clock to tie the score. It was sophomore QB Brett Molzhon and O'Georgia moving the chains and O'Georgia that ultimately tied the score at 14.
But 40 seconds was all Desert Mountain would need to take the lead back. Allen hit Andrews for a first down on the first play and on the second Andrews ran in from 67 yards out.
21-14 at the half.
Desert Mountain turned the ball over on their first two possessions and the Rattlers capitalized, scoring 10 points to take the 24-21 lead.
But this would be as close as they would get as Allen would throw three more TDs in the game, one to Allen and two to Cody Erickson
Final: Desert Mountain 42 North Canyon 24
Bottomline
Give credit to North Canyon. I don't think anyone expected a game between a 5-0 team and a 0-5 team to be this close. NC's Bryant O'Georgia is the real deal but Kyle Allen and Mark Andrews were a little too much for the Rattlers.
Game Ball
Junior QB Kyle Allen from Desert Mountain threw for nearly 400 yards and 5 TDs.
