What was not to like about this game? Great weather and two top teams in D3. Much of the first half was a defensive battle. Punts, defensive stops and missed field goals led to a 0-0 game until the 46 second mark in the 1st half.
Desert Edge's Kyle Woolard ran in for the first scre of the game to give Desert Edge a 7-0 lead with 46 ticks left on the clock.
Woolard then intercepted a Tyler Rogers pass and the Scorpions would score one more time before the half ended. Sawyer Lung fund Ismael Murphy-Richardson in the endzone with 14 seconds left and Desert Edge took all the momentum and a 14-0 lead into halftime.
DE scored on The Opening drive off a 31 yard Chris Brown field goal and then recorded a safety after Liberty snapped the ball over the punter's head to extend the lead to 19-0.
Woolard added another rushing TD in the third quarter and the Desert Edge defense played great the rest of the way and handed Liberty their first loss of the year.
Final 26-0 Desert Edge
Liberty had their chances, two missed FGs and two turnovers on downs but give it up for Desert Edge. They were much more physical and made what was a close game early look more like a blowout in the end.
Going to give two. First to Kyle Woolard. He scored 2 of the 3 TDs on the night and was a tough tough runner as well as playing well on defense. Second ball goes to the Desert Edge defense. Shutting out a Liberty offense that has been great all year long is quite an accomplishment.
