Semper Fi: Day 3 West Recruiting Notebook

Offensive lineman Kenny Lacy

News and notes from the West team after the third day of Semper Fidelis Bowl practice...

*Atwater (Calif.) Buhach Colony offensive lineman Aaron Cochran has taken official visits to Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arizona and is setting a visit to California. The big tackle said he would like to take a 5th visit and mentioned Wisconsin as a possibility.

*Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha offensive lineman Brayden Kearsley was an early commitment to BYU but after backing off a big ago, is now leaning to Oregon State. Kearsley took a recent official visit to Washington and will likely officially visit Arizona State in early January before making his decision.

*Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton defensive back Cole Luke committed to Notre Dame back in November and said he's a solid as could be with the Irish. Luke said the opportunity Notre Dame provides after football and the depth chart were the big selling points in his decision.

*Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita OL Dane Crane is a solid commitment to Washington and has been doing some recruiting for the Huskies. Crane said he has been talking with offensive linemen Brayden Kearsley and Sean Harlow during the Semper Fi Bowl practices as well as USC soft commit Nico Falah over the last few weeks.

*Lakewood (Calif.) receiver Xavier Shepherd, a long time Utah commit, said that even though his main recruiter Chad Kauha'aha'a left the program for Wisconsin, he was solid in his commitment and was enjoying representing the Utes during Semper Fi week.

*Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe offensive lineman Kenny Lacy committed to UCLA early on in the season and is solid in his commitment. Though he had a number of offers, the Bruins' strong 2012 season and his relationship with offensive line coach Adrian Klemm put UCLA ahead of the pack.

*Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty longsnapper Cole Mazza, who has been hailed as the top guy at his position, is set in his Alabama commitment and cannot wait to join the Tide's program.
