During the early signing period, the Missouri Tigers signed three outstanding prospects for 2013. Heading into the spring with at least one scholarship in hand, Coach Haith and company concentrated on adding center prospect Keanau Post 6'11" 260 Belleville (IL) Southwestern Illinois College to Missouri's 2013 class.
On Sunday, ShowMeMizzou.com learned that Post had committed to Missouri during his official visit.
Post chose Missouri over offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Washington, among others.
On Sunday evening, I spoke with Post regarding his commitment.
"I'm excited! I'm happy," said Post, talking about his commitment to Missouri.
Post went on to talk about his decision to attend Missouri.
"Ever since my first unofficial visit, with me and the guys, I felt like Missouri was a good place," explained Post. "I think I was pretty much sold on that first unofficial visit, but I just couldn't make my decision so quick. I needed some time to think it over."
"After the coaches met my mom and my brother, it just fit," continued Post, relating the story of his recruitment. "My mom and my brother were happy with Missouri. But still, I couldn't guarantee it."
"On my official visit, just meeting with the players again and the coaches, it really sold me that they are good guys that really care about their team and their players," said Post. "It's just really the right place for me to go."
The big sophomore said that the Missouri – Bucknell game was the most exciting part of his official visit. Other than that he said he just hung out with the coaches and the players.
"I just really got to know the coaches and the players," said Post. "The coaching staff really stood out to me. They are really good people, and they really care about their players a lot. And, you can tell that the players care about their coaches, and they trust their coaches. They have nothing bad to say about the coaches."
Post described his role on the Tigers next season as being "a presence in the middle".
Post said that he connected with the two fellow Canadians on the Missouri roster, Negus Webster-Chan and Stefan Jankovic. He said that he also connected and hung out with Corey Haith and Jordan Clarkson, as well as the other Missouri players.
I connected with all of the players," said Post. "They just all seem like really good guys."
Post began playing basketball in the 10th grade at Oak Bay in Victoria, British Columbia. He suffered a broken leg, and missed out on playing AAU ball, but he later played a year of basketball at Westwind Prep in the Phoenix area. The 2012-2013 season is his second at Southwestern Illinois College.
Post said that he's 100% solid to Missouri, and that he won't be receiving recruiting from or visiting other schools.
"I'm done with recruiting," said the 20-year-old Post. "I'm committed to Missouri."
Post will sign with Missouri in the spring, and will be on campus in early June.
