I expected a lot of points to be scored but the only points put up in the first half were by Valley Vista RB Izel Robinson with 47 seconds left to play. The score was at the end of one of the longest drives I have ever seen. It was VV's only possession of the 2nd quarter, one that took over 9 minutes and went 92 yards.
The Monsoon quickly went back to work in the 2nd half, scoring on their first drive to take a 14-0 lead.
All of the scoring in this game happened in the 4th quarter. VV receiver Terry Juniel ran in on the 1st play of the 4th quarter to push the leads to 21-0.
North Canyon finally got on the board midway through the 4th; on 3rd and 35, John Okwoli took a Molzhan pass 91 yards for a score.
Valley Vista scored twice late, one on a Damien Alcaron pass to Juniel and on an Austin Tafoya run.
Final Valley Vista 35 North Canyon 6. Valley Vista moves to 2-1 while North Canyon drops to 0-3.
North Canyon has some skill guys but had way too many penalties to stay in the game. Valley Vista has a big offensive line and a big back and pounded the ball. Valley Vista defense held NC skill guys Bryant O'Georgia and Onuche Okwoli in check.
Izel Robinson ran the ball well and the OL wore out NC but I am going to give the game ball to the Valley Vista defense. They played well all night and held a North Canyon offense that had been scoring a lot of points to just 6.
