Firebirds beat Brophy 44-10 on Cox 7 game of the week

A failed fake punt attempt by Brophy on the 1st series gave Chaparral the ball at the 25 yard line. Three plays later Chap RB Elijah Castro raced in to give the Firebirds a 6-0 lead and they never looked back, dominating the game 44-10.

Castro scored once more in both the 1st and 2nd halves while QB Chandler Fox threw TD passes to Tyler Whiley and Israel Simpson. Malcolm Thomas scored once for Chaparral and LB Hayden pate recorded a sack.

Brophy scored all 10 points in the 2nd half. Kicker Phillip Mourikes connected from 25 yards out while sophomore RB Ryan Velez scored the lone TD of the night.

For Brophy to win, they had to play perfect football. Early mistakes hurt the Broncos  and a very talented Chaparral team took advantage.

Game Balls

Chaparral RB Elijah Castro scored 3 TDs and had a 2-point conversion. On defense, OLB Hayden Pate had 4 sacks, one of which was a safety.
