More on Jordan's Commit to Cal

Defensive end Cameron Jordan made Bear's fans happy yesterday with his commitment to Cal. Here is a follow up to that.

3-star defensive end Cameron Jordan from Chandler HS (Chandler, AZ) kept the world waiting on where he planned on attending college. He stayed calm and relatively quiet during the whole recruiting process. He made Cal fans very happy yesterday when he announced that he had chosen the Bears over the University of Arizona and about a dozen other programs that were after him for his services.

Here is what the 6'4 255 pound Jordan told Scout.com via email about his commitment, "I'm headed to Cal Berkeley. I don't want to remain in AZ. I love the fam but I'm ready to move on and I think that Cal can help guide me to an aspiring future."

The value of a quality education may have played a strong role from his father. His father, Steve Jordan, was a long time NFL vet for the Minnesota Vikings and was a 4th round draft pick out of Brown.

Cal is getting a player with a non-stop motor. He was a two-way star for 11-2 Chandler, playing defensive end and offensive guard. In fact he was a 1st team all region selection along the offensive line as a junior. Playing as hard as Jordan does and showing that you can dominate on both sides of the ball at the 5A level is impressive and speaks volumes for the kind of player that Cal is getting.

This past season Cameron recorded 80 tackles and 17.5 sacks. Along the way he was named 1st team all region, 1st team all 5A and 1st team all Arizona.

Now that football and recruiting are over, look for Jordan to focus on track, where he is one of the state's best in the discus and shotput.
