Tightend Steve Figueroa from Desert Vista HS (Phoenix, AZ) is quickly becoming one of the hotter TE prospects on the west coast. Scout.com had a chance to chat with the 6'5 220 pounder and found out that he has received two new offers.
He had this to say about about SDSU, "It is a beautiful school and a beautiful campus."
On Nebraska, "It is my first Big 12 offer. It is pretty exciting."
He has modified his top seven a little. "ASU is my leader followed by Nebraska, San Diego State, Oregon State, UNLV, Utah and Arizona." Other then ASU as his leader, the others are in no particular order.
Figueroa feels that two other schools may offer soon. Those are UCLA and Arizona. He adds, "UofA told me they might offer with a good showing at their one day camp."
So how does Figueroa plan to get ready for the upcoming football season? He says he will compete in the Great Southwest Track Meet. He is one of Arizona's top throwers, with a season best throw of 60'1/4" in the shotput and 173'9" in the discus. He and his team will attend passing league tournaments at Arizona State and Northern Arizona. He also plans to camp at Arizona and Arizona State.
Figueora looks to be solid in the classroom. He mainatins a 2.7-2.8 cumulative GPA and a 2.4 core. He took the SAT two weeks ago and expects the results back soon. "I need to score an 880 for the clearinghouse."
