Two Camps, Two Offers

Mesa RB Keelan Johnson

RB Keelan Johnson from Mesa HS (Mesa, AZ) has quietly flying under the radar until this week when he received two big time offers.

RB Keelan Johnson from Mesa HS did not have an offer. That all changed this week when he attended camps at the University of Arizona and Nebraska. He was impressive enough at both camps that he walked away from an offer from both schools.

Johnson was a 1st team all region selection last year for the Jackrabbits but is being recruited as an athlete or DB by most schools. In fact the offer from Nebraska is as a free safety.

Scout.com had a chance to speak with the 6-0 200 pounder earlier to day about his recruiting and here are the contents of that discussion:

How was the UofA camp? I heard you walked away with an offer, tell us how you feel about the Wildcats?

"Yeah I did walk away with an offer and U of A is one of my top choices. The football program is making strides to improve from last year's season."

How was the Nebraska camp? What are your thoughts on the Huskers?

"The Husker camp was fantastic, I really enjoyed the facilities and the coaches are great up there. It's very exciting getting an offer from a top school like Nebraska."

Your offer was as a free safety, have you ever played there before?

"Not a whole lot. I am playing a lot of it this year."

Any other offers?

"Nope, just those two."

What are your top schools?

"Nebraska, U of A and Oregon St. I wouldn't mind playing at Cal."

What is your GPA and SAT?

"Around 2.7. I haven't gotten the SAT test back."

What is your best 40?

"4.42"

When do you think you will commit? Before the season or after you make visits?

"After I make visits."
