Apache Junction DE Rusty Fernando set to visit 1AA school

A great senior season is starting to pay off for DE Rusty Fernando from Apache Junction.

He amassed 99 tackles and 12 sacks and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in a very tough and competitive Desert Sky Region.

He tells 24-7Football.com that he will take his first official visit next month. "I go to Weber State on Jan. 17th," he says. The 1AA program has not offered yet.

He adds, "I'm excited about the whole thing and hopefully this will open more doors. I've seen Weber State play and they look like a promising team."

Fernando (6-3 200) was one of my favorite players to watch this year because he played with such passion and tenacity.

Stay tuned for more on his recruitment.
