Cornerback Kyle Coffey from Peoria Centennial became the fourth member of his team to receive a D1A offer when he was offered a scholarship by the University of Utah today.
Coffet tells us how it went down, "They came to the school in the Spring and told Coach Taylor (Centennial head coach) they were interested. So, I sent them an email and we exchanged a few. They told me to call them and when we talked they offered a scholarship."
The excited Coffey continues, "They said they loved my game film and thought that I played the game smart. The wide receiver and defensive back coaches were actually fighting over me. I would play either but would prefer to play corner."
Coffey also holds an offer from Holy Cross but the offer from Utah moves the Utes right to the top of his leader board.
"I plan on visiting there this summer," he says. "I really like how highly they were ranked last year and the coach was really down to Earth."
Coffey says that Colorado State and Northern Colorado have shown recent interest.
Coffey (5-10 175) was a 1st team all region pick last year helping Centennial win the 5A2 state title. He made 34 tackles and 6 INTs.
